I absolutely hate it when the stomach bug pays our household a visit. The bubble guts, queasiness and general unpleasantries are enough in itself to despise the illness but when you are trying to contain the outbreak without going full haz-mat with 2 outnumbered parent caregivers and 4 rambunctious kids, it’s like fighting an uphill battle on all fronts. I, of course, have my go-to energy healing rituals to help set the stage for optimal healing. I use my solar plexus crystals to bring awareness, love and support to the “Gut brain” as it works to mount its defenses. Some of the other practical steps we take to combat “gastroenteritis”(I had to pull out the clinical name, lol), is to try to keep the high touch areas as clean as possible and ramp up the support for everyone’s immunity. If you haven’t noticed from my other posts I like to keep my tips in three’s. So Here we go…
1. Clean, Clean, Clean. I am now officially preaching to the choir since every single one of us has lived through COVID and knows the importance of hand hygiene and cleaning high touch surfaces. When I say high touch i mean, doorknobs, handles, faucets, and disinfecting toys in a safe cleaning solution.
2. Drink Water or watery fruits/veggies you can tolerate. As we all have heard we are made of water and we need to maintain a healthy balance of it for our health. But did you know that 70% of our immune system lives in our gut. This includes living organisms that need water to perform essential cellular functions to keep us well.
3. Consider using Prebiotics and Probiotics. Prebiotics, a non-digestible fiber, create an optimal environment for probiotics to thrive. Probiotics are live microorganisms that actively populate the gut and contribute to a balanced microbial ecosystem. I typically try to get fiber and probiotics from natural sources and whole foods such as fruits, veggies, whole grain cereals and yogurt. But when we are actively trying to be intentional about combating the stomach bug, I use a multivitamin or probiotic supplement that has fiber included. A well-balanced gut microbiome is crucial for defending against harmful bacteria, viruses and preventing chronic inflammation.
